Chile, officially the Republic of Chile, is a South American country occupying a long, narrow strip of land between the Andes mountains to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. It borders Peru to the north, Bolivia to the northeast, Argentina to the east, and the Drake Passage in the far south. Today Chile is one of South America’s most stable and prosperous nations, a recognized middle power and an emerging economy.
Framed by the Andes to the east and a coastal range to the west, and one of the largest cities in South America, Santiago is quirky, entertaining, and boast of a cultural and ethnic diversity that remains unmatched in its neighbourhood. Santiago thrives with artistic enthusiasm, and flaunts an equally booming culinary and architectural canvas. Trekking, climbing, horseback riding, skiing, kayaking and wine tours are some exhilarating indulgences that the city offers.

Chile’s southern charms, including Torres del Paine and the Lakes District, are best visited in summer (December through March) as some are all but impenetrable in winter (June through September). Meanwhile Chile can be a wonderland for skiers. Middle Chile is best in the verdant spring (September through November) or during the fall harvest (late February into April). The Atacama Desert can be explored all year.
