The climate remains temperate year-round.

South Africa’s winter months (June, July, August) – which have the least rainfall, except for the Western Cape with its Mediterranean.

climate – are a peak time for game viewing as a shortage of water means animals gather at
watering holes. Reduced foliage makes game spotting easier.

Summer is the best time to enjoy beautiful beaches and outdoor activities, whereas visiting the wine-lands during winter remains a special treat.

Autumn, winter and spring are also ideal time  periods to visit the Northern Cape’s wonderful national parks with their black-manned lions, and a good time to enjoy animal tracking adventures with the Kalahari Bushmen.

The Big 5 on your doorstep

Originally used only by hunters, the term ‘Big Five’ refers to five of Africa’s greatest wild animals – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino.Imagine watching the sunset over the horizon whilst you capture the moment of a pride of lions stalking its prey.A visit to South Africa is incomplete without having spotted, and possibly photographed, the Big Five.

Other Wildlife Excursions

Apart from viewing the big 5, the Garden Route offers a variety of wildlife excursions including getting up close to birdlife on walkways at the Birds of Eden or the hysterical monkey antics of Monkeyland. You could even ride one of the biggest birds in the World at The Cango Ostrich Farm.

Live the Adventure

Bungi-jumping – including the highest bungi jump in the world, quad biking, hot air  ballooning, rock climbing and abseiling, shark cage diving, hang gliding, paragliding, sky-diving, surfing great waves, water rafting and paddling, whale-watching, as one of  South Africa’s richest botanical treasures, the Garden Route invites you to lose yourself in nature amidst the grandeur of indigenous forests and a multitude of blooms which are  perfectly viewed from a hot air balloon, forest zip line, paraglide or an adrenalin-fuelled skydive.
